As we had just recently released version 1.0 of our design system guidelines to a select circle in our company, we thought an interesting story to tell the Meetup group was about the research and discovery work we did over 3-4 months time before organizing, writing, designing, and building our design system artifacts and resources.

We focused on areas such as employee interviews, competitive analysis, naming exercises, and more. This not only allowed us to tell the story of our work (and finally show it off to more people), but also to receive valuable feedback and analysis from those not as familiar with the work as us.
The Chicago Design Systems Meetup group had proven to be a valuable resource for us as we began our process, and we had gotten a lot of inspiration from presentations by companies Morningstar, SAP Hybris, and Conversant leading up to and after doing our own work.
